What are Partial Dentures?
Partial dentures are a removable prosthetic device created for your upper or lower jaw, replacing one or several missing teeth, primarily for functional and/or aesthetic purposes. Generally they are attached and held in place by acrylic and metal clasps.
How Partial Dentures Prevent Any Further Damage To Your Oral Cavity
When you are missing one or more teeth, the pressure from your bite can start to shift your remaining teeth (to compensate for the “space” in your oral cavity). Over time, it can be common to experience bone loss around that missing tooth and tooth decay.
A partial denture keeps the underlying structures of your mouth such as your gums, jawbone, and facial muscles active and engaged, allowing you to function and smile confidently.

Are Partial Dentures Right For Me?
Here’s how to know if partial dentures might be the solution for you:
- You are missing one or several teeth.
- You want to preserve the function and appearance of the remaining teeth.
- You want a removable option for easy cleaning.
- You have financial restraints, and want a more cost-effective solution than bridges or implants.
Our Partial Denture Package Options
Conventional partial dentures are made of metal and acrylic. A conventional partial is a more rigid and permanent style of denture as the base is made of an ultra-thin, lightweight, and durable material (chrome cobalt alloy and titanium).
The metal is custom designed and fabricated into a framework based on the position of your remaining teeth, subsequently the acrylic and artificial teeth are then attached.
Unlike conventional partial dentures, flexible partial dentures are created from a thermoplastic nylon resin. It’s a material that’s ultra-thin, durable, stain resistant, and makes eating and speaking more comfortable. Even better, it’s invisible look makes it virtually undetectable, providing a much better aesthetic appearance. Especially for patients that experience allergies to acrylic or certain metals, flexible partials are an excellent choice.
An acrylic partial denture (also known as a “flipper”) is used to replace one or several missing teeth. It is designed to be a temporary solution until you transition into a more permanent denture. They act as a cost-effective solution, serving more as an aesthetic “fix” rather than a functional “fix.” As such, we only recommend these as a temporary fix until a longer-term solution is provided.
